About Us

Hummingbird Music is a 360° music label, offering a creative shelter for talented artists in the rapidly changing music industry. Established in 2004 and headquartered in Hong Kong, Hummingbirdis pioneering a new artist-friendly label and music production company. Founders Tan Chang and Lupo Groinig have one very simple objective, and that’s to provide a set of professional musical resources that establishes new creative benchmarks for the music industry in Asia. Hummingbird’s philosophy is to give emerging and established artists the creative freedom they require to flourish and fly high.

Tan Chang

CEO

Tan is the founder and brainchild of Hummingbird Music. He was born in Hong Kong and received his education in Los Angeles, Australia and Japan. He began his career as a co-founder and Operations Manager of an electronic casino “Mocha Slot Lounge”. Shortly after selling his shares of the company, Tan combined his business knowledge with his passion for music and started Hummingbird Music with his good friend and ex music teacher Lupo Groinig. His mission with the label is to create higher standards in music across Asia, and to build a platform for striking new talents in the region.

Lupo Groinig

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Born and raised in Austria, Lupo began his music career at the age of 19 as the lead guitarist for the renowned Austrian rock band Fahrenheit. The band produced numerous top ten hits and toured extensively throughout Europe. Residing in Los Angeles since 1993, Lupo had served on the faculty of the prestigious Musician’s Institute in Hollywood for nine years lecturing in Guitar and Music Production. Lupo has equally impressive experience as producer, arranger, songwriter and music director for artists and clients around the globe. He has performed with multi-platinum and Grammy award winning artists and has worked with the likes of Sony Music, Interscope Records, Miramax Films, Universal Music, Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers and Disney. He co-founded Hummingbird Music with Tan Chang to create a label where artist development is at the forefront.

G.E.M.|鄧紫棋

Singer, songwriter and musician G.E.M. – short for Get Everybody Moving – dreams of inspiring people through her voice and her music. Born into a musical family, G.E.M.’s grandfather played saxophone in an orchestra, her grandmother was a professional Chinese opera singer and teacher, and G.E.M.‘s mother graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. G.E.M.’s debut self-titled EP in 2008 won numerous awards, including ‘Best New Artist’. She is now on her second world tour and releasing her 5th album.
